Renee Kester is a choreographer and educator based in Los Angeles. She was classically trained at Southland Ballet Academy. The youngest member of Sonya Tayeh’s company at 15, an original member of Westside Dance Project and Entity by 16, and was scouted to be a trainee for the Washington Ballet at World Ballet competition. She went on to dance for the Houston Ballet and Ballet Red before returning to L.A. to create the viral video, “Slip” with Phillip Chbeeb. “Slip” amassed over 20 million views and pushed Renee to choreograph several music videos, commercials (Toyota, Lenovo, Nair, and Timberland), web series “Making Moves” and dance in stage performances (VMA’s and Dancing with the Stars).  Renee has won best choreography at the World of Dance Awards and best choreographer for digital content at the World Choreography Awards. She has taught at Princeton, LMU, the Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive, and travelled the world judging, choreographing and teaching  in Jamaica, Mexico, Sicily, Romania, Canada, Singapore, and Slovenia.
Renee Kester also underwent PAO surgery for hip dysplasia in 2017 and became the first patient to ever go back to dancing professionally, retaining her flexibility. With help from her doctor, Tigran Garbakeyan, they created a documentary to follow her surgery and recovery.
She is currently choreographing a musical for London’s West End, teaching at Millenium Dance Complex, and working on her own music.
